Welcome to Issue #11: Climate Cartographies, guest edited by Suha Hassan, that introduces the inaugural iteration of the Architectural Association Visiting School (AA VS) Climate Cartographies, which was conducted online in Khartoum. The AA VS Climate Cartographies focuses on investigating the long-term impacts of climate change on heritage sites by utilising cartographic methodologies to develop new maps that reveal overlooked relationships within our environment through various forms of representation.

Welcome to Issue #10: PolyVocalCity, collectively guest edited by Markas Fortunatas Klisius, Lou-Atessa Marcellin, Betty Owoo, Robin Finch Pickering and Rebecca Sainsot-Reynolds. This issue is introducing Theatrum Mundi’s educational programme that adopts a non hierarchical model for knowledge exchange bringing together academic and lived experience nurturing relationships based on mutual respect gained by exposing each other’s strength and vulnerabilities.

Welcome to Issue 9: The Right to design, guest edited by Onkar Kular and Henric Benesch. The Right to design is a practice-based platform that examines the historic and contemporary relationship between design and rights.

Welcome to Issue #8: Worldings, guest edited by Nishat Awan and Zahra Hussain. Worldings presents research and engagement carried out in Gwadar, Pakistan, as part of the long-term project, Topological Atlas[1]. It considers the material effects of infrastructural development and its modes of worlding at different scales and through varied forms of pedagogical engagement.

Welcome to Issue #7: Entangled Topographies, guest edited by Merve Gül Özokcu and Pelin Tan. Entangled Topographies presents how the research collective Arazi Assembly is working in different spatial scales focusing on the Southeast region of Turkey. Arazi considers collective research as a form of knowledge production of decolonisation, care, and solidarity.

Welcome to Issue #6: Earthed Imagination, guest edited by Onkar Kular and Christina Zetterlund. Earthed Imagination looks back at Luleå Biennial 2022, Craft & Art to consider the different ways the biennial engaged and facilitated learning and collective imagination through its physical and digital Learning Room platform and programme.

Welcome to Issue #5: Pluriversality, guest edited by Dalida María Benfield and Christopher Bratton. The editors frame the contributions of the thinkers, artists and activists in Issue #5 as proposals towards liberatory pedagogies that iterate a “pluriverse”, the term offered by Arturo Escobar and others as a tool for de-centering Western modernity. Their diverse practices cross many worlds, multiple cosmologies and places, while emphasizing the dynamic interconnection between humans, cultures, and earth’s other beings.

Welcome to Issue #1 and the Urgent Pedagogies online platform. Here we will introduce the project and platform and the first set of texts and online talks that through various perspectives look at the role of alternative pedagogy and spaces for knowledge production in relation to socially engaged critical spatial practice. In this project we have developed public events, online talks and commissioned texts so as to gather a wide variety of views related and in response to the urgencies of social justice and equality, contested territories and conditions of conflict.
